 on Tuesday, 1 March 2016

According to an Afghan report an Afghan man accused of raping a seven year old girl was beaten and killed by an organized group of women in Kandahar.

The victim identified as Arifa Fathima Joonus, a 7 year old was snatched by the rapist from her house when she was playing "hide and seek" with two other kids. Rapist taken her to his house and has raped her twice before she was released after threatening her that he will kill the entire family if she says anything about the incident.

man killed by a group of women

51 Year old Rapist himself is a father of 6 children out of which 4 are girls at the ages of 3, 6,  13 and 17 respectively. None was reportedly home when the incident occurred as the entire family was participating a wedding function of a close relative.

Victim was another case of girls who were denied school education. Approximately 85% of Afghan girls are denied of any primary education according to UNICEF. It further says "The adult literacy rate in Afghanistan is 47 per cent for men and only 15 per cent for women"

Girls who do not school and stays at home often subjected to abuse by their relatives and neighbors. Chances of them getting abused by strangers is very minimal in Afghanistan as girls are restricted to go out without their parents.

Afghan newspaper Tolafghan reported the incident quoting group of women as "terrorists", saying its a cold blooded murder and that the victim's family has not reported the incident to Sharia court. However, the severity of Sharia law is such that the victim could also get the death penalty if the abusers can prove that the girl was tempting him for sexual intercourse. Many such Sharia verdicts were given in recent history resulting the victim too was subjected to punishment. "Besides Sharia courts consists of only men and are biased to men in most instances" says Sakeena Yacoobi, alias "Mother of Education" who is a WISE pricewinner for Education. . (Sakeena Yacoobi alone ran 80 secret underground schools for 3,000 girls previously under Taliban control)

The unidentified group of women is said to be responsible for a similar killing last month when another man, a rapist of a 11 year girl was found dead due to multiple stabbing wounds. These women wear Buqas and therefore extremely difficult to find their identity says an official from Kandahar Police. The only clue they have at the moment is a message written on the victims body "Death for Rape" says the newspaper report.

    1. Good for those ladies. A part of his punishment should be removal of his genitalia while still alive.
